HOW TO PREPARE AND STUDY FOR EXTERNAL EXAMINATIONS IN HIGH SCHOOLS

Examination time can be stressful as it put a lot of pressure on scholars/students to perform well. Still, there are several other things you can do to prepare more effectively for your examinations.

While completing your syllabus is critical for utmost examinations performance, at the same time, it's also essential to use your time efficiently.

In fact, during this time, it's important to concentrate on how much you have studied and not on how long you have studied

The following are some ways to study smarter and exceed in your external examinations.

1. Start Your Preparation Early

Starting beforehand, your examination body will give you ample time to review everything you have formerly studied. So don't leave anything for the last moment and make sure you understand your subjects completely. This will make exams much easier.

You can also set up a timetable to manage your time effectively. First, note down how numerous examinations you have and the days when you have to take the examinations. Also, set up your study schedule consequently, remember, you may want to devote further dedication to some subjects than others, so try to achieve a balance as per your convenience.

 2. Organize your Space for Study

Before sitting down to prepare for your examinations, make sure everything around you is organized. You should have enough space around you to keep your notes and handbooks. Also, you need to be sure that your study room is comfortable, there's enough lighting in your room, and there's nothing around you that might distract you like your videotape games, phones etc.

When preparing for examinations, you need to feel as comfortable as possible and avoid all distractions so that you can concentrate more on studying. Also, you need to sort out each of your study materials before studying

Thus, put your notes in order, check you have all the notes, write down your summaries for each chapter of your text, and prepare your note on each  subject so that you can use them as a last- minutes revision

 3. Review and Practice Old Past     questions Papers

Reviewing and exercising old past questions papers(usually up to 10years past questions) is one of the most effective ways to learn how to prepare for examinations. It helps you to familiarize yourself with the format and structure of the question papers. Still, try timing yourself when exercising the old past papers, this will help you to know how important time you're spending on each section, If possible. you can get past papers from your school teachers, or your school library, or you can indeed search online.

4. Set Study Objectives/Goals

For each study session, set yourself something to keep track of what you're studying or revising. You can note down your study objectives as soon as you start your study session or you can set them at the end of the session for the coming exams. Then are some samples  of study objectives you can set.

5. Gather your colleagues for Study Sessions

Organizing study sessions with your classmates is one of the most crucial exams study tips for high scholars/students as it helps you get answers to all your questions and vice versa. Still, you need to make sure that you don't waste time and concentrate on learning the significance of preparing for examinations.

Studying with your classmates is also a great way to challenge yourself and keep moving forward toward your goals

6. Describe your Answers to Others

Parents and your siblings don't always have to be prickly and annoying, especially around your exam time. To stop them from distracting you, use them to your advantage and start describing the answers that you have prepared for them. This will help you to retain knowledge and know the areas where you're lacking and need further work.

 7. Study to Suit your reading Style

Your reading style will help you to know what are the stylish ways to prepare for an examination. For example, if you're an audible learner, you may profit a lot  from recording your notes and also hearing them when you play it

On the other hand, if you're a visual learner, explore what your reading style is so that you can memorize significant data and understand crucial points.

 8. Do Not Cram

Staying up all night and cramming will only make you more anxious and stressed out. So rather than trying to cover everything in your syllabus the day before the exams, it’s better to review what you have formerly studied and sleep beforehand.

This will keep you refreshed on the day of your exams. The crucial things  you should be doing the night before your exam  includes the following

Rather, stay focused on your studies and prepare for the coming papers to ensure that you don't repeat the same mistake.

10. Drink Lots of Water

As one of the most vital tips for examinations day, always remember that keeping yourself in a hydrated position will add to your overall positive mood and will make your brain work at its best, So make sure to drink a lot  of water while preparing for examinations and indeed during the examinations

 11. Choose Eating Nutritious Foods
