HOW TO IDENTIFY BAD FRIENDS AND GETTING NEW GOOD ONES

Introduction and Season Greetings

Compliments of the season and welcome back our esteemed readers, in our last post, we talked about how to select good friends and their characteristics.

Today, we would discuss identifying good friends and how to get new good ones as we step into the New Year in preparation for a good year ahead

You can spot a lousy or fraudulent buddy by several signs. Generally speaking, you should search for the antithesis of what we just described.

You should also be aware of the following negative characteristics:

1. They Consistently Outdo You.

They consistently portray their problems as being more important than yours. They will tell you how their day was worse if you tell them about your awful day. They'll point out how they did it better if you're proud of an accomplishment.

Your feelings will only be invalidated by this constant rivalry, and true friends don't do that.

2. They Exert a Negative Influence.

They encourage you to partake in dangerous behavior or uncomfortable activities. They are not worth having in your life if they don't respect your boundaries.

3. They humiliate and bully you

Some "friends" merely stick around to bring you down. They take it out on you because they want to feel better about themselves. Stop letting them.

 The value of close friends

It's crucial to remove harmful people from your life. It can be unsettling, but you have to make room in your life for individuals who will make terrific friends.

Your toxic buddies may be people you've known for a long time. You could fear being by yourself. Both are inadequate justifications for keeping unkind individuals close by.

Your mental health will appreciate it if you have nice friends. They'll support you through difficult times, rejoice with you when you succeed, and make you feel complete. You just need to locate these people because they are out there. Although it might require some effort, it is doable.

How to make friends:

It's challenging to make friends as an adult. It's challenging to put oneself out there because of employment and other responsibilities, but it's worthwhile.

Here are some pointers for locating more fulfilling relationships:

1. Take Bp New Hobbies

Find activities that involve strangers. Doing what you love is especially advisable because studies have shown that we seek out friends who are like us. The future? Your next dance class can introduce you to a new best friend.

Here are some concepts to think about:

Attend community gatherings: A block party might be just around the corner. Or a rendezvous for singles might take place in the neighborhood park. Going alone and starting a conversation with someone is nothing to be afraid of. They probably want to meet new individuals as well.

Find a cause you are passionate about, then volunteer there. This is a fantastic opportunity to meet individuals who share your interests.

Take up a new hobby: Participate in a group activity, learn a new sport, or take a class. There are weekly meets for many of these events, making it a fantastic way to meet new people.

2. Develop a friendship with yourself

Don't rely on other people to make you happy. Learn how to bring happiness to oneself. Go on dates with yourself, see a movie by yourself, or organize a relaxing night in. People notice when you love and respect yourself. It sounds like self-assurance and great self-esteem.

3. Treat Other People with Respect.

Keeping this in mind, friendship relies on reciprocity. Ensure that you exhibit each of the qualities we outlined above. Cut out those who don't deserve your friendship and be a good friend to those who do.

The difficult aspect of friendship

True friendship isn't always a bed of flowers and sunlight. An otherwise wonderful relationship may suffer if you fight, lose contact, or get envious of one another.

And there are occasions when you won't agree with your friend's choices. If they're intoxicated, you might have to take away their car keys, confront them about their lousy romantic relationship, or step in if they're acting irresponsibly. These are difficult tasks, but if you want to be a good friend, you must complete them.

You must have faith in your ability to communicate honestly and openly throughout any rocky patches in your relationship.

The conclusion

Building enduring relationships requires effort. It calls for you to be open and vulnerable with others, to be truthful about your emotions, and to stand up for those who are in need. You'll need to follow your instinct when it comes to removing unfavorable people from your life.

But keep in mind that it's worth it to fight. Knowing what makes a good friend, you can seek out friends who will stand by you when things are tough and make you feel more content. Consequently, everything in your life will be better.
